Functional Job Analysis (FJA): The process of evaluating and measuring the physical aspects of work to understand the physical requirements of the job. Functional Job Analysis (FJA) involves assessing the worker, the work and the worksite. A functional job description (FJD) is developed based on the objective information that is gathered.

PreWork Screening (PWS): a test performed after a job offer to identify an applicant’s functional ability to safely perform the physical requirements of a specific job.

Early Intervention Screening/First Aid: The therapist screens the worker and/or the worksite as a result of the worker’s concerns, supervisor request, or first responder’s request. The therapist then coaches the worker regarding appropriate movement patterns, posture changes, and strategies to reduce reported discomfort and improve safe job performance.

Ergonomic Consultation:  The therapist works as part of the employer’s ergonomic team to evaluate the worksite and work tasks, identify and reduce risks, and prevent future injuries.

Education: Targeted instruction and practical strategies to increase the worker’s knowledge and problem solving using injury prevention and rehabilitation principles.

WorkWellVisit: The therapist visits the worker on the job in the work area to facilitate a successful stay at work/return to work.

Physical & Occupational Therapy: Evaluation and treatment by licensed therapists working in partnership with physicians. The therapist evaluates the worker and then develops a treatment plan focused on restoring movement, maximizing strength, decreasing pain/symptoms, restoring function, and promoting safe return to work.

Work Status Testing (WST): An objective assessment of the injured worker’s functional abilities to perform work-related tasks. WST is performed periodically to identify the worker’s capabilities compared to a specific job or transitional work available after an injury.

WorkFIT Screen: A job specific functional evaluation performed post injury/illness and following a physician’s release to work. WorkFIT screen will determine whether a worker has the ability to safely perform the essential physical requirements of their job. The result of a WorkFIT screen is pass/fail.

Transitional Work Program: A program that progressively returns the worker to work following an injury by matching the worker’s abilities with either temporary work or with the original job with modifications. Standard activities include job coaching, functional conditioning and problem solving strategies.

Functional Capacity (FCE): A comprehensive functional test designed to measure the maximum safe functional abilities of a worker across a broad range of physical capabilities. An FCE is sometimes used to better understand complex cases, extended disability duration, or for vocational rehabilitation planning.
